FAQs

For polybag packed merchandise always use Micro-Pak® PE Sheets instead of stickers to avoid potential discoloration issues.

Micro-Pak® Stickers are placed in the box at the time of final packing. When humidity is high the moisture in the air enters the sticker and starts a reaction that creates a Micro-Pak® atmosphere. This Micro-Pak® atmosphere spreads throughout the package helping to eliminate mold spores.

Silica gel and other desiccants are designed to absorb moisture and while some of these may be quite effective at this they are not specifically going after mold spores. Micro-Pak® products will both absorb moisture and create and release an atmosphere to eliminate mold spores.

Micro-Pak® Stickers are easy to use. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Open the foil package, remove the roll of Micro-Pak® Stickers and place it in the dispenser box.
  2. At time of final packing tear off one or more pieces of Micro-Pak® Stickers and stick them on the inside of the box base for best results.
  3. The box should be closed immediately after putting the stickers on the box base and not reopened.
  4. Any unfinished rolls of Micro-Pak® Stickers should be placed back in the foil package and closed with tape for use within the next day.

Please also see Instructions for Use on our website for further details.

The number of Micro-Pak® Stickers to be used depends on the size of the box and the humidity level. In most cases one piece of Micro-Pak® Stickers will be sufficient. Please refer to the Instructions for Use on our website and your customer’s instructions for further details.

Sporicidin® Enzymatic Cleaner is a concentrated cleaner for removing mold and other organic contamination from surfaces. Sporicidin® Disinfectant solution is a sterilizing solution for cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing surfaces.

Bleach is corrosive, highly toxic, and has strong smell and no residual anti-microbial effect. Sporicidin® Enzymatic Cleaner and Sporicidin® Disinfectant Solution are not only effective against mold and mildew but gentle on most materials and very safe for workers to use.

Sporicidin® Disinfectant Solution should be re-applied at least once every three months.

If light mold returns on surfaces before three months, Sporicidin® Disinfectant Solution can be used directly on the light re-growth without the need to pre-clean the surface with Sporicidin® Enzymatic Cleaner. If moderate to heavy mold returns on surfaces, pre-clean the moldy surfaces with Sporicidin® Enzymatic Cleaner. Once the surfaces are dry, apply Sporicidin® Disinfectant.

More details on our sustainability programs can be found in our sustainability report posted on our website.

We view sustainability as a dynamic process in which we constantly examine where we are. We recently conducted a life-cycle analysis (LCA) of our products. As a result of the LCA, we identified the following items for improvement:

  • Increasing the level of recycled content low-density polyethylene (LDPE) in our products
  • Increasing the content of recycled material in our shipping cartons
  • Improving the chemistry of our products by identifying better performing materials
Was this answer helpful?

To be frank many companies sustainability programs are limited to printing pictures of trees on their packaging and using slogans such as “Save the World”. At Micro-Pak we have spent considerable time and money on studying our environmental impact and then taking action to reduce our footprint. Our third party studies and certifications are a testament to our efforts. We will not solve everything at once, but we are making meaningful, consistent progress.

Our sustainability efforts clearly have upfront costs but these are recouped through eventual lower energy costs and more efficient manufacturing. Our customers benefit through being ensured of effective, complaint products produced and delivered with a lower environmental impact.

Micro-Pak has conducted a carbon footprint of emissions from our manufacturing facilities, office operations, and business air travel. The biggest source of emissions is attributed to our manufacturing facilities, and we are therefore focusing reduction efforts there through the installation of solar power. By the end of 2015 we will install solar capacity to generate between 5% and 10% of our manufacturing energy requirements

The use of Micro-Pak products can help in each of the following areas:

  • Packaging and waste reduction – Micro-Pak products are significantly lighter weight than our competitors’ products, reducing overall packaging and waste volume.
  • Lower emissions from transportation – Due to the significantly lower weight of our products, we help customer reduce both their carbon emissions and fuel used in transportation.
  • Chemistry/RSL compliance – Micro-Pak products comply with the restricted substance regulations and policies of regulators, brands and industry groups.

Beyond complying with RSL requirements, Micro-Pak’s products have achieved Cradle to Cradle Silver certification. We have also participated in GreenBlue’s Material iQ assessment, utilized the Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s HIGG Index, conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of our products, and did a carbon footprint of our operations. We have set goals and are working on improvements based on the results of the assessments and footprints.

Micro-Pak products comply with the restricted substance policies of major retailers and brands around the globe. Please feel free to send us your RSLs and we will be glad to check these to ensure we are in complete compliance

In the US Micro-Pak products are registered with the Environmental Protection as well as with all fifty states. In the EU Micro-Pak products are pre-registered under REACH, comply with the most recent list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and are well on the way to authorization under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).
