Micro-Pak Dri Clay® Kraft is a certified plastic-free desiccant made from natural bentonite clay that is packaged in biodegradable FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Kraft paper. Inside packages, Dri Clay® will outperform silica gel and calcium chloride desiccants. It is also safer as it is free of harmful chemicals, non-corrosive and does not leak.
Metal Detectors
As it is a 100% natural ingredient, bentonite clay may contain trace amounts of ferrous minerals with magnetic properties that can, on very rare occasions, trigger metal detectors which are most commonly used by the apparel industry to check for any metal parts accidentally left behind in the garments. We assure you that there are no metal parts in Dri Clay®.
Introducing Micro-Pak Dri Clay® Kraft X2
After years of R&D we are pleased to introduce Micro-Pak Dri Clay® Kraft X2, a special version of Dri Clay® designed for industries that use metal detectors. X2 uses a proprietary filtration method to remove any ferrous minerals from the clay without otherwise changing the properties or performance of the desiccant.
We have extensively tested hundreds of millions of pieces of X2 over the past 2 years with a leading apparel brand and it has 100% metal detector pass rate. No other clay desiccant is designed specifically for the apparel industry and metal detectors.
When should I use X2?
X2 is available in 2 sizes (2-grams and 6-grams) and is designed for individually packed products that pass through metal detectors:
- Use X2 if your product is individually packed and you use metal detectors at 1.0mm setting, and you have issues with regular Dri Clay®. You can use multiple pieces of X2 together.
- Use regular Dri Clay® for bulk packing and if your products do not go through metal detectors at 1.0mm setting. For bulk packing the desiccant is typically added after the metal detection stage.
- If regular Dri Clay® works for you please continue using it. There is no need to switch.
